WhAt tO Do

Dilemma
Giants, great and tall
Giants, brutal and cruel
Giants, among which, I am nothing.
I walk in the wilderness, I fear, they lurk.
Giants, I made my bed yet I seldom rest
My mind races and bewilders
in longing for completeness and filling.
Where to run, what to do?

My heart beats and breaks,
alongside, a beast is awakening
Let live or let die, what to do?
Only one must be, me or the devil inside.
The meek and complacent, or the insidious and chancy?

Awake I lie, like a night owl
Waiting, hoping and afraid, that the defunct remain so.
Giants, pitiless and damaged
Deep inside chained and buried.
To be broken and suffering,
or whole, fearless and apathetic?
What to do?

Giants, agents of deception and disguise
I worry; the monstrosity tempts me
Forgive and Forget, or convict and chastise?
What to do?

A Valediction.

Time Tide and Man
Time, they say, a healer of all wounds
Yet here I stand, all this while
Convinced, the greater the loss, the deeper the cut
Hence, the more arduous the process, to be whole again.

Now I know, the pain may fade
Yet scars will remain, reminding me of my suffering.
But again, now I am all the more resolved;
Never, will I be wounded again.
So leave me be, let me act out in frustration,
react with aggression, and get lost in distractions.
Touch me not, for my anger now, is unending
And all the while, I brace and plan to grow stronger
I must toughen my skin, to go back and face the world.

Time, they say, passes before we know it
And with it, we are healed.
Yet I, know differently.
My demons live and lurk in the shadows
But I am rather ensconced in different pursuits
Leave my heart unfazed, let it beat.
Perhaps I prefer it so, perhaps it is too broken to mend.

We are not kin,
we are just two gentlemen bidding goodbye to each other
You knew my heart and I yours
Life, we lived side by side
I called you friend, and you called me brother
So sleep well, I hope, and whilst you rest,
I will bring pride and honor to your name
Fear not, shut your eyes, and be rid of all the misery.

Feel my palm upon your chest rest
Fear not, my friend, I will leave the lamp on
For I’ll be last to leave.
But breathe to me, please tell me your last words o wise one.
But fear not, for I know, it is Peace at Last.

Heartbreak and Misery

To the Love that Broke Me.

Question; to sleep and forever not to wake
does that numb the pain I feel?
At play, she broke the plaything, she so adorned.
I, that was warmed, am starved and cold
For love was fire, and food and wine.
Like an angel, she looked.
My hand, she held and caressed
Now it feels like I am dead but unburied.
I pick up my luggage and leave
I walk to the left and my person to the right.
Follow me not, dear stranger!
My peace, I am going to find.

It hurts
Today I heard, the sound it makes when a heart breaks.
Somehow, I know, there is no right path, only this way.
What more has life to offer,
If alone I wander in the deepest darkest thickets?
I need teaching, so teach me to learn,
How to live and love again.
She taught me to hold on, so I held on
Not knowing I was holding on for someone else to hold instead.
She taught me to see and hope,
So, I learned to reach for the unexpected
Now every hope of me is dead.
To love her more only kills me,
So, build be walls and teach me
how to forget.

Love in Disguise

The Love I Dare not Confess!

So I sat and watched
Whilst you danced and laughed and ran around
All errorless and scintillating, my heart leapt.
Your short poise almost half my height and a shapely smile
And all I could need is to see you eloquently speak and gesture.

And I wish for it to never end;
My desire to never leave your side and your wish for a better man
For the many times I have lived and loved
Only you are worth being good for.

Your tender eyes and daring thoughts
And my love is too much, it embarrasses you
Song, poem and blood
Babies and books
Dare not see me watch you all day and wonder,
What have I, that his eyes gaze upon.

Last I saw you, then I knew
You might be too perfect for me
Yet still I desire, in your arms to be held fair
To die while yet in your love I am drowned
But dare I not profess my love to you
For I worry, what you might think.
Let me then, love you from afar
And kiss you in my dreams
For there, I am the master.
I dare not look at thine own face
Yet in every place and deed your memory I leave.

So I think, for you
My life I would give,
As in the course of my life, never have I met
A soul so pure and innocent
But still, this riddle I can’t solve
Nature could not prove
And this, was nothing, but secret love.

After August

When is it ever not the time to.
Kill me now, kill me later,
Granted, I must die.
Is it not overt, that breathing is plight enough?
It is written so.

Late last night, at the superhighway, I thought.
How painless could death be if I drove off the way
But I thought again, I need a new pair of sneakers.
So, tell me now, don’t you know, or am I the broken one?

Kill me now, kill me later,
It is granted, I must die.
But if I am to choose when to,
My Lord, let it be after August.

The Voyager

Peace at Last

I have sailed many a sea.
I have seen all there is to see
Desolate, forlorn and sad
All night long I sit under the dreadful night sky.
In tears and dressed in rime
For the many times I have loved, I have also parted.
Oar, wind, waves
Silence, whooshing, silence, whooshing again and again
Swiftly, I drift.
Take me far far away,

Mother,
The world was cruel!
So, let the fishes of the sea feast tonight.
But no tears, for mine soul is set free
But miss me, for the love we shared.
Though I must set sail alone
Without fear of the tide, or rain, or night.

And when time comes, and I must go
I shall stare unseeingly and spread my arms.
Maybe then, I shall know peace.

No famous last words,
Just me and this last poem
Knowing, you will hold me dear
In death as in life.

Once but never Again

If what is were
And I walked slimmer and steadier
Shedding my old life, leaf by leaf
More content and less scared to spend nights alone
Yearning for daylight, one after another
Season to season with a glimmer of hope
That maybe one day again, the space between us is abridged.

If what was is
And I become the singer of songs again
I will go with her I love
And whilst the furred snow falls and bells jangle in the streets
I will be tucked away with she whom I love.

All talk no play.
So I am clothed and wrapped in blankets
Life oozing out of my bones
I wonder not, but my mind wanders in thought
Through the land of lost content
And I forget, from whence I came;
Things and people
Deeds and feelings
There I cannot go again.

The innocence of the times lost
The pretense
The purity of the moments
Now in the sinking ship
I set my sail
Sailcloth and wind, take me wherever.

A single smile for us both
Follow me not
For love or for peace
But forget me not; I was yours truly.

The Bastard Son

THE BASTARD SON.
Since the dawn of time, my life has been my own
The seek and hunt for love
The incessant pursuit of peace and affection
Yet meet only spite, hatred
A pure and perfect hatred that only ever grows
The fury in my eyes and the pain behind them
For all those failures in seeking the approval of men
Who value only strength and stoicism.
I’m a curse of this world, living and never being able to die at will
Alone, my heart is broken and my mind is haunted by the past
So I am scared.
My cloth is soaked with tears and my soul drenched with blood.
My rage is overtly grown, but watered in fears.

I took the high road, out to find myself
I sought and I found not.
So I ran. Deep into the world of the unfamiliar
Yet still, they look, and they know.

I’m the wronged, I am the dead but never mourned
And whilst everyone gets what they’ve wanted,
My walls shatter.
Yet in all that, still I find joy
At the sight of my foe’s blood, and their eyes begging “Mercy.”

Me-Time

Me, my dazzling face
In such a shiny place, this place of poetry.
Enjoyed days when nothing is written on my book,
Days when nothing happens,
When no one comes in disturbance of my peace,
When no one wishes to take me away.

I keep peering into space
To find a reason not to give up
When I sit, I think and reflect
Of those days that broke me
Young, stupid, and innocent.

I keep lying still on my bed
To feel nothing, and close my ears
When I feel, I feel my heart bleeding
When I listen, I hear echoes from yesteryears
That have left me lost and confused.

Trapped by misguided wills
Intoxicated by mixed reactions
Chained to ways of men
Such nights—cold, unfortunate, and blistering.

I was thinking of these sunset years
Hopeless in these chilling manacles
Despaired of prayers of remorse
Desolate of this shell of hope
Lost, confused and excruciating in pain.

I was thinking of my old cupboard
Packed with images and images
Decorated with smiles and shrills Disfigured by a mad, yet sane humanity
What is left embodies a rock of ashes.

What must I give to my people,
If not a scarp, shyness, awkwardness
Even though in my smiley face,
Least appreciation I get keeps me going
For nothing do I have in the last resort
To give to anyone.

Now it is me-time,
Time to appreciate self and smile
For what does one,
When none comes so I find solace in.
None offers a shoulder for my tears to fall upon
No one touches my hair to desire or bless
Well, don’t we all who write, have not what we desire?

If only anyone knew
That there is more life in my bones
Than I get credit for.
So now I must chain myself in my own warm embrace
And tell myself all the great tales I know
Forgive me if I ignore you
For my head is far up high in the horizons of self-bliss
And even as the wind gusts hard against my eyes
I shall not blink.

I pat myself on my shoulder
And I tell myself, “You matter”
Yet only we all matter to ourselves and to none else
It is my time; I need self-therapy.

I find myself pulled into a room
Of unsettling tranquility
Of loud silence looming
When the skies darken
When the sound of waters rush
When wild, distant echoes die

Everything comes in reflections
I hear whispers of hate and discontent
I feel the deadness of the world
I wrap the little me in a blanket
A blanket of darkness
A blanket of soulful hope

Let me believe in myself
When everyone no longer does
Let me love me for me
When I think no one likes me
Let me hope for better days
Even when I feel dead inside

So, I wish,
So, I hope,
So, I pray,
And I keep thinking
Of this life
Of alone
